Outside the ruthless Darkren was slaughtering humans, male and female it didn’t discriminate in its death dealings. The ground was littered with limbs and the air was heavy with blood. We were in one of the hidden transport pods when I saw Jonnir being carried into a human helicopter. It quickly took off with him, the Director and the General inside.

Zephyros frowned. “I’ve always hated him and now I loathe him. He needs to die slowly.”

He stepped on the transport port but it didn’t activate or recognize our biosignatures.

Ava's body trembled. Her invisibility fell away and she shook her head. “I can’t hold it any longer. I don’t think I can do a protection shield either. What do we do now?”

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the explosive heading right at her. There was no time so I removed my shield and placed it over her and covered her eyes with my hand.

A blur of blue movement caught my attention as an alien grabbed the explosive and threw it back at the Darkren.

Zephyros frowned. “What the hell is that? I’ve never seen this species before?”

Instead of running, the alien walked up to the Darkren and touched it’s head, and it instantly went unconscious.

Boom.

He was already at our side before the explosive went off. “That was beautiful what you did. How did you survive the last time she died?”

I instantly shielded my mind even though he had read my thoughts earlier. “That is none of your business. Who are you?”

The sounds of the helicopter drew my attention. Jonnir hung over the side with a large weapon in his hand. A projectile missile was heading right at us.

Alba lifted her hands in a circular motion and sent the weapon back at them.

The alien wrapped us in his arms and closed his eyes. We were back down below the Earth’s surface.

Boom.

My flesh was on fire as I shielded Ava from the blast, I closed my eyes and surrendered to the darkness closing in.
